分為下列兩種課程「CULTURE AND SOCIETY COURSE」和「JAPANESE LANGUAGE COURSE FOR BEGINNERS」
The program consists if a LECTURE and a PROJECT WORK (both mandatory) with 4 credits given.
▼LECTURE: Each student can take ONLY ONE sub-course from below
Sub-course 1: Trans-Border Issues in Japan (up to 60 students)
Sub-course2: Lifestyle in Japan (up to 20 students)
Sub-course 3: Natural Science and Technology (up to 30 students)
Collaborative research work by multi-cultural groups, field works for the research, writing the report, and the presentation in English.
This class is for conducting project works by collaboration of Ochanomizu University students and overseas partner university students. In groups, students discuss to fix the project topic of the group, schedule the research work, and make an oral presentation and a report on the group collaboration. Through the work, students experience and are trained of project planning, proceeding, and synthesizing the results to present, through multi-cultural opinion exchanges, to gain necessary skills to develop their career in the globalizing world. One part of the classes is going to be done virtually using IT tools.
There are going to be special lectures from leaders in order to give a tip to proceed with participants work in group.
Up to 15 students are accepted for per class below.
All the students in below 3 classes are expected to participate in the Tokyo excursion class in a group on a weekend as a part of class activities. The details of excursion will be announced here when it is confirmed.
All the students in below 3 classes are expected to make a course-end presentation with your group members.
Students are required to buy assigned textbook for JPY 3,000 (to be paid by cash on the first day).
The contents of Introductory Class include survival expressions, the review of the two sets of Japanese alphabets (Hiragana and Katakana), and introductory lesson of Kanji characters. You will also learn essential sentence patterns as well as a basic vocabulary of verbs and adjectives. Upon completion of this class, you will be able to communicate in Japanese for simple and practical everyday situations.
The contents of Pre-Intermediate Class include brushing up especially speaking skills by making speeches and practicing Q&A sessions. Expanding vocabulary and reviewing the grammar you have studied are also included. Upon completion of this class, you will be able to become proficient enough to present a coherent speech on specific topics such as about yourself, your experiences and impressions.
The contents of Intermediate Class include improving your oral expression skills through class discussions and interviews on various topics. It also aims to deepen our understanding of contemporary Japan and create opportunities to think about customs and traditions from various perspectives. Upon Completing this class, you will become confident in giving a presentation about your research.
Accommodation is not prepared by Ochanomizu University.
However, students can apply for Ochanomizu University's residence. Please note that there are only limited number of rooms available, and thus the students will be selected by lottery. Those students who cannot or will not use Ochanomizu University's residence should prepare for their own accommodation.

This program provides intensive courses in summer for students of partner universities from both domestic and overseas, as well as students of Ochanomizu University and Graduate School. All classes are multi-cultural, aiming for students' career development and promotion of international exchanges.
